Sapa – the Town in Cloud
Located in the Northwest, Sapa is a mountainous district of Lao Cao province, a land of modest with a large number of miracles from natural landscapes to local life. The harmony of nature together with human creativity makes Sapa an attractive destination.
Sapa is a small ancient town, situated on Hoang Lien Son range of mountain, an imposing mountain of 280km long from Phong Tho, Lai Chau to Hoa Binh province. The wide of mountain foot at the largest section reaches 75km and the narrowest section is of 45km. Hoang Lien Son includes 3 main blocks of Bach Moc Luong Tu, Fansipan and Pu Luong. Fansipan in Hoang Lien Son, about 9km to the Southwest from Sapa is considered the roof of Indochina at the height of 3143m. the mountain is at the bordering area between Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces. In local language, the name of the mountain is Hua XI Pan, which means a huge mountain. There are lots of stories related to this mountain including a love story between a couple who were madly in love but could not be married or some fairy tales told by the locals next to the stove generation by generation.

Many travel agencies have opened their tours to conquer this mountain. Hoang Lien Son Pass serves as one of the longest and roughest passes on the Northwest of Vietnam. Standing on the top of the pass, you will see cloud and wind right in front. This is also one of the first places to face snow when the winter is so cold.
In some sunny and clear days, you can see Fansipan and some high mountain peaks in a distance from this pass. Also in this position, can you feel the imposing beauty of Hoang Lien Son range of mountain with blue sky above and the lush primary forests below which contain numerous secrets to discover.

It is the height of Hoang Lien Son range of mountains that makes climate of Sapa different from other regions with flying cloud which fascinates tourists and retains their foot. Cool climate together with blowing wind from mountains make tourists feel like getting lost in a fairy land. Another thing special is the feeling of 4 seasons in a day that makes Sapa more interesting. A day begins with the climate of spring with some drizzles. At noon, summer comes with high and clear sky and sun light through clouds. Gentle autumn comes in the afternoon when the sun lowers behind the mountain. You then shall feel the cold of winter when the dark comes.
Fansipan is a famous tourist attraction in Sapa
Besides the special and ease climate, the local culture and life style here are also the surprising things to tourists coming to Sapa. Arriving in Sapa without putting step on Ham Rong Mountain, Silver Waterfall, Cau May (Cloud Bridge), Fansipan, the ancient reef or Ban Ho, Cat Cat, Ta Van, you cannot see the imposing beauty of the Northwest as well as the diversity in cultural identities of ethnic groups on this remote mountainous area. In addition, visiting Sapa without trying on some special dishes including Com Lam, (bamboo tub rice), Thang Co, wild pig meat, grilled eggs and some typical vegetables such as chayote vegetables, seasoning leaves, it is unable to say that you know about Sapa. Those are some of the things that make Sapa renowned among tourists. At present, there are 6 main ethnic groups living together in Sapa including Hmong, Dao, Tay, Giay, Xa Pho and KInh. Each group has their own language, traditions, customs, festivals, architect and cuisine which are all attractive and unforgettable to tourists once coming to this meeting place between earth and sky.
